Wacky slippers

Are these slippers not the most ridiculous thing you have seen in a while? They are E-normous! And the boys love them!

This was Luke's reaction when I moved him away from me to take the picture. We're touchy these days.

Toby and Pinky

You all know how obsessed Sam is with baseball. The "wallpaper" on this blog is dedicated to my little slugger. He just loves it and loves to say, "Catch the ball! Hit the ball!" while we watch a game. I never knew a 2-year-old could love a major league baseball game on TV, but he does!

So I popped in to our next door neighbor's garage sale earlier today. Sam has bats, balls and caps, but no glove (we were trying to "pace" him). I saw a glove, yes, a pink glove. And I thought, "What the heck? It'll give him a chance to try it out." Tony was not very enthusiastic about "Pinky." As I excitedly burst through the door with my treasure, Tony said, "Please tell me you didn't just buy our son a pink glove." And I guess the whole "Oh, honey, he's 2 and it was 50 cents" wasn't sufficient. So Tony is emasculated for Sam. And to add insult to injury, it says "It's a girl thang" all over it. Tony read that aloud, shaking his head in disbelief.

But, as I had hoped, Sam is none the wiser. He is LOVE with his mitt. He immediately put it on, handed me a ball and said, "Pitch, mama." WHAAAT? He has never said "pitch" in his life. (Maybe it's "a girl thang.") He never takes it off and is currently napping with it on, much to my husband's chagrin. He wants me to pitch non stop, so I guess I better warm up my pitching arm.

The other new addition is the frog tent that we named Toby. Toby was quite scary at first and neither of them would get in it. It seems that has passed and good ol' Toby is welcome to stay.

Pinky!

Ready to catch

I caught it!

He doesn't realize he's dropping it.

Inside the belly of the beast

Good morning, Toby

Boys and books

Most of you know I am a reader. When I was about 19, I decided to make it a goal to read at least 3 books a week. And I have pretty much done that since. Some weeks I do it, some weeks only 1. But I always read.

Since the boys came home, I have read to them a lot as well. They both seem to really enjoy it. I was so worried (new mommy thing?) about all of the "jazzy" toys that light up, make noise and "do" something. Worried that books, imagination and creativity wouldn't seem as fun. Thankfully, I was wrong. We took the boys to a toy store today. Guess where they went first and stayed? With the books. (Wait - what is that noise? Can you hear that? Oh, it's just my heart pounding with joy and pride.)

So this was the second we got home with their new books - in the entry way! No time to move to the living room, you know. We finally convinced them to move to their room, but they insisted on napping with their books. Works for me.

Aaaah, books. I love you so.

Hey - look at my new book!

Sam gets so serious and focused.

You guessed it - chooo choooo!

Um, care to keep it down? Reading over here...

SCHOOL

Oh my goodness. The boys both started "school" today (Mother's Day Out from 10-2 on Thursdays). We have talked about it for the past few weeks, so I was hoping they would be ready. They were excited about talking about it...and Sam was definitely excited about his new shoes...but when it came time for the drop off, not so excited about school.

I am sure they are having a ball now though...I hope so. I am really missing them - only 89 minutes until I can go pick them up!! (I came home and did homework, so it wasn't the relaxing break I was looking forward to...massages and facials to come though.)

Boys, when you read this someday, I hope you will feel how proud your mama and daddy are of you. You are every bit of everything we ever dreamed of. You are both so sweet and smart and we love you to the moon and back. We know your teachers will love you and we can't wait to hear about all about your day!

Look at how big Sam is getting!!

And how handsome!! Oh, how I love that face!

Luke was NOT into his shoes at all...even with the trial run we did last weekend.

"Off, mama" (we changed to Robeez)

Whoops...Santa needs more grapes.

A little bit more cuteness

Just a few cute pics Tony and I took yesterday.

I must describe this train that Sam has made. Tony brought home boxes so we can clean the pantry out (good times, I know). Well, Sam is so taken with the boxes and he has made this train every day since (hey - does that mean I don't have to clean the pantry out??) He is really creative and I love it. It is really cute - he loads his "cargo," gives some enthusiastic "tooot tooooots" and "away they go." Sometimes one will push the other, but since none of it is connected, it all falls apart and winds up with someone crying. So we need to find some way to connect the bike, the boys and their rocket. Then they will be like Sam's fave - Thomas!!

In Luke's pic, he meandered out to breakfast with my baseball hat on, 2 frisbees and a diaper wipe holder. So if any of you find yourself needing a frisbee at breakfast, Luke's got you covered.

Ready for breakfast!

Time to put the bon bons away...

Kidding. I have not been eating any bon bons. Life has just been busy and wonderful lately. The boys are changing every day and I haven't wanted to miss a second. So we've been chasing bugs, going to the park, reading a lot and hanging out. It's been heaven on earth.

Sam and Luke's Nonni and Granddad are in Alaska for a few weeks, so we are watching their sweet pup, Bella. She is a good girl and Sam wants her to be his. He has said, "My puppy?" And then I remind him and he says, "Oooooh, Nonni puppy!" So it's "all about Bella" over here. They have been helping me feed her, pour her water, and pick the leaves out of her fur when she comes in. Yes, it's true love.

(Fun fact - my parents used to live in Alaska and I was born there. They are having a great trip!)

**OH, RATS. Most of these pictures won't rotate, even though I have done it a few times in My Pictures. I am tired, so you are just going to have to cock your head. See? I really AM a lazy blogger.

His puppy (he wishes)

Bella's no dummy. She knows which one is the messy eater.

I surrender.
Sweet puppy.
Luke, THIS is how you do it.
Double the pets!

A little blog break

I just wanted to let my handful of faithful readers know that I am taking a little blog break. We are really busy right now and the boys need me.

As soon as things get settled, we'll be back!

Hope you are all doing well!
